There are three types of membership:

Full membership is for those

  • who have successfully completed a full training course (150 hour) in massage techniques, and
  • who have been in practice for at least one year. In this category of membership you must have a list of clients.

Your application will be sponsored by a full member of NMA who knows your work. You will be asked to give a massage to a nominated member, usually at your place of working.

Apply for Ordinary Membership if you have completed a course of training and want to keep in touch through the Association with what is going on in the world of massage but

  • you do not currently intend to practise professionally (or you are no longer practising)

Associate Membership is for newly qualified therapists who are just starting out in practice. You can remain an Associate Member for up to two years; you can apply for Full Membership after one year. At the end of the two years you must decide whether you want to be a Full or Ordinary Member.
